Getting a Tattoo !!!

1. Does getting a tattoo hurt?

Yes. Getting a tattoo done does hurt. However, it is really not as bad as you may think. This is not the piercing pain of getting an injection. It is more like a vibration. You will not have to worry about it for long, though, because your body will quickly release endorphins to dull the pain.

2. I am not ready to get a real tattoo yet, is there a temporary alternative?

Yes. There exist temporary tattoos. One type of temporary tattoos uses very light Japanese rice paper. This can last for up to two weeks, with good care. There is also the Indian alternative, using a substance called henna. Henna tattoos can last for several weeks. Check out Mehendi tattoo shops, for this one.

3. What should I keep in mind when I look through the portfolio of my tattoo artist?

The portfolio of a tattoo artist is a collection of his or her previous works. When you look through the portfolio, you should check to see that the lines are clean and well defined. You should also look to see if the lines are accurate and straight where they should be and not shaky or blurry. The borders should also be of consistent width. In other words, the borders should not seem to get narrow or even increase in width when it should not be that way, as a part of the design. You should also pay attention to the colours, if they are bright and if they are true.

You can also use their portfolios to recognize their preferred style of tattooing.
