MARTIN O'NEILL has sealed a stunning £24million double swoop by adding Adam Johnson to the capture of Steven Fletcher.
The Sunderland boss insists he has not paid over the odds for the £14m Scotland striker, who has signed a four-year deal worth £6m.
O'Neill now hopes former Wolves favourite Fletcher will hit it off with Johnson (below).
The Black Cats chief landed the England winger for £10m after persuading the player to end his turbulent 2½-year spell at Manchester City.
Like Fletcher, Johnson has agreed a four-year deal.
O'Neill insisted: "Adam is a top-quality player and it's important we add quality to our squad."
Fletcher goes into the squad for today's clash with Reading after sealing a transfer that has dragged on all summer.
O'Neill said: "I have no problem with the fee for Steven. For a centre- forward who can score and bring people into play, and whos been involved in the Premier League, I'm happy."
