Jose Mourinho has now won league titles from four different countries. Jose Mourinho has acquired league titles from Porto (Portugal), Chelsea (England), Inter Milan (Italy) and Real Madrid (Spain).
Real Madrid sealed their first league title in four years following a 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday. Their victory ends the four-year dominance Barcelona has enjoyed in Spanish football.
"I've now won the titles important to me - the one in my country and the three biggest ones in Europe," Mourinho expressed in an interview to the Portuguese television channel SIC. "I don't have any ambition to win in another country. There's no other country that interests me."
Jose Mourinho is now among the few managers in the world who have won league titles from four different countries. The list of managers that have accomplished such task include the Italian Giovanni Trapattoni, Austrian Ernst Happel and Croatian Tomislav Ivic.
The 49-year-old Portuguese legend, Jose Mourinho reckons his men have produced better football than Barcelona this season. Well, Jose Mourinho and his men have made a La Liga record by scoring 115 goals this season. Moreover, they still have two games in hand.
"My team played some of the best football in history," said Mourinho. "But there are some luminaries who believe that only one type of football exists on earth. But these people only know football through Google. They swallow knowledge, but know nothing."
Nonetheless, Jose Mourinho did say he was eager to meet his Catalan rivals next season. Jose Mourinho confessed that it had been a thrilling season and he hoped Barcelona will be up to game once again next term.
"There's more merit in winning against a team like them," Jose Mourinho said. "They're a great club and they will remain so. We'll keep working and next year we'll try to win it again."
