Internationally-acclaimed Reggae singer, Ziggy Marley, will host a new program on American satellite radio; promoting the best that Reggae music has to offer.

Ziggys new monthly show, Legends of Reggae launched this past Sunday on SiriusXM satellite radio in the United States, a day prior to what would have been his legendary father, Bob Marleys 67th birthday. The program will feature unique insights from Ziggy Marley regarding Jamaican music and culture as well as interviews and music from some of his favorite Reggae artistes. Additionally, Marley will feature some of familys music on the new program, including music from his days with the Melody Makers as well as his Grammy-nominated album, Wild and Free.

The pilot episode of Legends of Reggae featured an interview of legendary Reggae singer, Jimmy Cliff by Marley. The episode will be rebroadcast this Friday at 6 p.m. on The Joint: Channel 42. Additionally, Marley will interview other special guests during each show.

According to Marley, Legends of Reggae will be a fun, informative way for fans of the genre to enjoy its essence.

It is my privilege to use this medium to honor the Legends of Reggae and to use it as a vehicle to educate and enlighten listeners, Marley said, via press release.

SiriusXM president, Scott Greinstein echoed that sentiment; intimating that this will allow listeners to gain new perspectives on the Marley family.

Through his show, Ziggy will be able to share with our subscribers Reggae music from the beginning to now, with insight unique to him and his family, he said.

Hearing songs from his personal collections and his conversations with the greats of reggae is something music fans will treasure, and we were honored to launch the show on the eve of the birthday of his father, the late Bob Marley.

Legends of Reggae will air on the first Saturday of each month at 12 p.m. with rebroadcasts the following day at 2 p.m.

This news comes after it was announced that Ziggy Marley was the executive producer of Marley, the first official documentary of his father, Bob Marley which will debut later this month at the Berlin International Film Festival. The movie, co-produced by Island Records CEO, Chris Blackwell and directed by Academy-award winning director, Kevin Macdonald will be unveiled across North American theatres on April 20.
