Police have identified the policeman who was shot and killed by another cop in St. Andrew last night.

Dead is Constable Shawn Howe, who was attached to the Clarendon Police Division.

A statement from Communication Director at the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Karl Angell, says Constable Howe was shot and killed by a Special Constable at a dance on D'Aguilar Road, off Waltham Park Road in St. Andrew last night.

The Special Constable was arrested and will be interviewed.

Police personnel from the Bureau Of Special Investigations (BSI), are asking patrons who were at the dance last night and who witnessed the incident to come forward and provide statements.

Mr. Angell is reporting that so far 10 statements have been collected.

The matter has also been reported to The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
