Bolton's Ricardo Gardner Signs A One-Year Contract

Bolton midfielder Ricardo Gardner has signed a one-year contract extension with the Premier League club.

The 32-year-old turned down the chance to work with former boss Sam Allardyce at West Ham in June and has now agreed a new deal at the Reebok Stadium.

"I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to sign on for another year," said Gardner, who has made more than 400 appearances for the Trotters.

"I have been very happy here and so has my family."

The Jamaican has been with Bolton since 1998, but appeared on the Premier League's list of released players published last month as his contract with the Trotters had expired.

Gardner added on the club's official website: "I'm looking forward to this pre-season because it is a fresh start. I hurt my knee just after the season started last year and I had to play catch-up.

"I had a bit of a break in the summer and went back to Jamaica for two weeks to give my muscles all the rest that I needed and spend time with my family.

"It was important that I prepared myself right because this is a big season for me and I want to make sure that I enjoy it."
