A jilted Queens man walks into a pharmacy with a bouquet of red and yellow flowers - and a loaded gun minutes later his ex-girlfriend laid dead. He then took off to an apartment where he killed himself, police sources and witnesses said.
It was a *la*hdy end to a volatile romance between Alexander Figueroa and Giummia Villa that produced two children - and two orders of protection. Just last week, the ex-con had hassled the young mom at work, and cops got orders to pick him up within the last couple of days, sources said. Villa, 32, was at the register at Crescent Chemists on 34th Ave. in Long Island City when Figueroa, 38, walked in with the flowers about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, sources said.
"They talk and then I heard 'Pop!'" said witness Maria Lombar, 65. "I saw her on the ground. She went down dead. *la*hd was all over." Cops launched a manhunt for Figueroa that ended about 6:30 p.m. in his apartment on 36th Ave., where he was found dead with a self-inflicted head wound. A written confession was found, a source said. In April 2009, Villa - a Dominican Republic immigrant who survived two kidney transplants - took out an order of protection against Figueroa; it was still in effect. She got another order of protection in Queens last year, but it expired last month, sources said.
"He didn't respect that," said Maria Dinorah Reinoso, a family friend. "He was threatening her over the phone," she said. "He wanted to kill her." Figueroa, who had served time for attempted robbery and weapon possession, was arrested in November 2009 for violating the order by pushing Villa and taking her phone and wallet during an argument, sources said.
The case was due to be dismissed last month as long as he stayed out of trouble, but the final disposition was unknown. The victim's uncle, Luis Villa, 61, said his niece has been running scared since the couple, who never married, split two years ago.
"He got flowers for her - he was trying to make her come close to him," he said. "Then he pulled the gun and shot twice."
