The police on Friday had to prevent persons in the Half-Way Tree area of St Andrew from beating two men they are said to have discovered in a compromising position.
Reports reaching THE STAR are that the policemen were on duty in the area when they accidentally encountered the men.
"Did inna di tenement yard when dem hear some mourning and groaning inna one of di rooms. Di news immediately started to spread dat when di officer dem open di door dem see a partially naked man who had a towel wrapped around his waist and di other man naked as di day him born inna di bed," one woman who was on location and who requested anonymity said.
When THE STAR visited the yard in the evening, a number of persons were still talking about the incident.
One young man declared; "Fada if yuh nuh busy come yah so cause di country need you, and dem lucky di police did deh yah so."
Based on information received at the scene, it is said that the team of officers had to shield the men from angry crowd for about five hours. "A long time di police dem did deh down deh until about four service vehicles had to come because di amount a people did deh pan di scene a lucky di man dem lucky seh dem nuh get some beaten," another woman said.
When contacted, Senior Superintendent Derrick Knight, head of the St Andrew Central Division said he was not aware of the incident.
