A policewoman suffered injuries as she unloaded her weapon while on duty yesterday morning.
The STAR understands that the woman constable, who is stationed at the St Andrew Central Division, was hit by bullet fragments in her face after her weapon accidentally went off while she attempted to unload it.
THE STAR understands that the injured policewoman had to be taken to the hospital following the incident where she underwent surgery and is now under observation.
Up to press time last night, further details about the incident remained limited.
"The information sketchy, nobody no really know wha gwaan," a police corporal from the Half-Way Tree Police Station told THE STAR.
Another police officer told THE STAR that "a first me a hear bout it,".
Just over two weeks ago, another woman constable lost a finger after she accidentally shot it off while she attempted to unload her weapon at the New Kingston Police Post.
