With Christmas just around the corner and music being a very big part of the season, industry players believe there are certain rhythms that will make their presence felt during the merry season.
High on ZJ Sparks' list of rhythms that will be hot for the season is Jam 2's Ska Vintage rhythm.
"Even if it nuh hot a Jamaica, it a go hot a foreign. Keida have a song pon it name Dance Floor and it haffi shot," she said.
She says the rhythms to watch for the season are 'Smokin', 'Championship', 'Split Personality', 'Minor', 'Badda Dan' and 'Cardiac Bass' rhythms.
According to Stampede, who does the popular 'Stampede Street Charts', the rhythms that will remain hot for the season are Seanizzle's 'Split Personality', Baby G's 'Badda Dan' and Baller Davies' 'Rail Up' rhythm.
a very big impact
"Dem three rhythm deh cause di song dem pon dem hot. Dem hot ya now and dem a go go straight back to Christmas. It hard fi a new rhythm weh come out today fi run the Christmas cause it a go need time. Dem rhythm ya now, di people dem a tek time gravitate to them," Stampede told THE STAR.
But he also gave kudos to Seanizzle. He says the producer made a very big impact on the dancehall industry this year with the 'One Day' rhythm that had songs like Beenie Man's I'm Ok, Mr G's Swaggerific, ZJ Liquid's Wifey Walk Out, Seanizzle's One Day, Khago's Nah Sell Out, Twin of Twins' Don't Tell Nobody, Future Fambo's I'm Drinking Rum, featuring Beenie Man and Gary Snipes' Poor No More.
"Seanizzle a di only producer weh advance this year with bout six hot song pon one rhythm. Don Corleon do it with 'Drop Leaf' and then Seanizzle as a new producer come do it. Him mek a difference inna dancehall this year," Stampede said.
While he admits that Seanizzle's 'One Day' is still doing well in the dancehall, Alliance selector Boom Boom says his rhythm of choice for Christmas is F****' 'Gully Bomb'.
"Stephen McGregor have a new riddim weh nuh drop yet and da rhythm deh ago run bout ya. But the rhythm weh a run Jamaica a 'Gully Bomb' weh have Mavado Nuh Fraid A Dem," he said.
'Street Swag' rhythm
In addition, he said most of the songs on ZJ Chrome's 'Smokin' rhythm are not played in the dancehall, as most selectors only play the songs done by Mavado and Vybz Kartel. As for the 'Street Swag' rhythm, he said it is just starting to get the justice that it deserves.
Meanwhile, ZJ Ice said the 'Smokin' and 'Gully Bomb' rhythms are likely to continue to do well during the season. He says the public can expect hot beats from Stephen McGregor, Chimney Records and Russian, who will be dropping new rhythms in the very near future.
But he says Big Yard has a new rhythm that has not been named, which also has a lot of potential.
"Big Yard thing a di freshest thing inna my mind and it look like dem plan fi go hard wid it," Ice told THE STAR.
