Nikki Z: My godfather in Connecticut was a promoter. I was a girl Friday (efficient female aide) on his shows, starting at age 16. I got on radio when a radio guy name Donovan Longmore based in Hartford, Connecticut asked me to recap a show that was in town. I was 22 at the time. I fell in love with radio after that interview and the rest is history.
What has been your greatest challenge in the business yet?
Nikki Z: Being taken seriously.
What have you been up to lately?
Nikki Z: Creating, producing and marketing my own syndicated programme.
Do you look up to any specific artiste and why?
Nikki Z: Lady Saw - she is the definition of a great woman and soul.
Are you happy with the way things are going for your musical career right now?
Nikki Z: Yes, definitely.
Do you have any advice for young artistes coming up?
Nikki Z: Don't ever give up and always believe you can do better.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Nikki Z: Retired, living on the beach, watching my money work for me.
