A number of recent reports have led the police in Clarendon to believe that there are robbers there who have started a trend of beating their victims viciously either before or after robbing them.

THE STAR learnt of the situation last week during checks with the police. An officer at the May Pen Police Station said, "In recent times there has been a number of reports where persons claim to have been robbed and beaten by thieves."

According to the inspector, there has been at least six such reports over the last month but the police are yet to identify anyone or group of persons in connection with the incidents which are said to have occurred in different parts of the parish.

THE STAR made contact with one victim, 25-year-old Andrew Hamilton, of Mineral Heights, who said he was robbed and left to nurse a broken arm after two men used a piece of metal to rain several blows all over his body, three weeks ago. The men then emptied his pockets and made off with a cellular phone and $3,000.

According to Hamilton, he was taken by total surprise as he was walking along a main road just outside his community about 9 p.m. and was attacked.

"Di man dem jus rush mi one night and lick mi dung. Di drop weh me drop now dem jus go inna mi pocket and tek out weh in deh, phone and some money and then run off. Is a piece a iron di man dem did have to eno, a whole heap a lick dem gimme and all bruk one a mi hand dem," Hamilton recalled before jokingly saying following the incident he tried to remember if he had any previous altercations with anybody who may have had revenge on their minds.

"Di way it happen mi all did start think if me and nobody argue recently or nuttin like dat," he claimed.

According to the police, all the reported incidents took place at nights and involved male victims.

The other incidents are said to have occurred at Denbigh Drive, Palmer's Cross, Croft's Hill and Frankfield.
