Deejay Busy Signal explores genres on his latest 15-track album D.O.B from VP Records.
Touching on a variety of topics as well as genres, Busy Signal explores different sides to his music from opera, to acapella, acoustic, Spanish flair with a touch of techno and a lot of dancehall. The first song on the album, How U Bad So, showcases the versatility that is to come, with a touch of techno, African drums and harmonies, as Busy Signal asks the women who can wine the best.
The popular Picante is one of the Spanish-influenced songs that is a crowd-pleaser at any party. The other Spanish song is Busy Latino which starts off with a Spanish intro.
popular remakes
Reggae also features on the album with the popular remakes, Sweet Love (Night Shift) and One More Night, which shows his tender side. In Opera, Busy Signal does just that, singing about his 'screw face' with opera-like background music.
In the acoustic piece Peace Reign, he shows his conscious side asking for peace to reign for all mankind. Summn' A Guh Gwaan is the only collaboration on the album and features Bounty Killer. It is another conscious song in which the two talk about the ills in the country. Hi Grade, Nah Buy Wi Out and Nuh Fraid shows the artiste's gangster side, while Hair Dresser Shop brings it back around for the ladies, with a topic they can relate to.
versatility
D.O.B is the fourth album from Busy Signal, the deejay tries to show his versatility in his lyrics, with his melodies, as well as musical genres. Not a bad listen, overall. Much of the tracks, how-ever, have been heard by the public already, so there are few exclusive singles.
