Residents from the 5 East section of Greater Portmore, St Catherine, are still wondering if their jungle justice was enough to deter several men who have being robbing them on bicycles at nights.
According to the residents, for sometime now the men on bicycles have been a menace to the community. So they recently took matters into their own hands.
Last Thursday, they attacked the armed men which resulted in the death of one of them while the others escaped unarmed.
Police reports are that about 9:30 p.m., three men armed with guns and knives robbed several persons in the community. An alarm was made and the residents are said to have attacked the men.
One of the alleged robbers was held, chopped and stabbed. He later died after being taken to the Spanish Town Hospital.
The deceased is unidentified and is said to be in his early '20s, dark complexion, slim build and five feet, six inches tall. The St Catherine North police continue their investigation in apprehending the other men.
The residents in explaining their frustration which led to the attack on the men said; "As dem rob one deh so, a suh dem rob another one over yah suh."
Another resident told THE WEEKEND STAR that in one incident the men went as far as to rob an entire bus stop of people as they waited for transportation.
"Can you believe sey dem go a waan bus stop and rob every single body. No one was spared," said another resident.
Clive Blair, deputy superintendent of the St Catherine South Division, told THE WEEKEND STAR that the police had been aware of the activities of the robbers.
The senior officer told THE WEEKEND STAR that the men have operated with and without their bicycles.
