Singer Bobby Melody, who was most famous for the song, Jah Bring I Joy, produced by Joe Gibbs, reportedly died recently in the UK. Melody, who worked with producers such as Yabby You, Gregory Isaacs, Jah Thomas and Joe Gibbs, was also a member of The Prophets.
A prolific underground artiste during the 1970s and early 1980s, Bobby Melody, born Bobby Powell in the parish of Trelawny in Jamaica, recorded for almost 40 years and had been living in Britain since the early 1980s.
It is understood that he died of cancer late April in Nottingham, England. He is one of two Jamaican artistes based in England who recently succumbed to cancer. The other was veteran studio engineer, producer, songwriter Sid Bucknor.
