Several entertainers, well-wishers, political representatives and government officials gathered outside the Casualty Ward of the Spanish Town hospital tonight to show their support for deejay Mad Cobra a.k.a Helter Skelter who had been injured by a gunman's bullet a few hours ago. At the time of this report, the deejay was listed as stable but doctors were still conducting x-rays to determine the extent of the injuries suffered by the bullet to his right shoulder.
According to friends of the deejay, Mad Cobra was shot and injured in the vicinity of the Braeton Seventh Day Adventist church on the Hellshire Main road in Portmore, St. Catherine. Eyewitnesses say there was a barrage of shots fired close to the church at about 7:35 p.m., and a few seconds later, a car burst onto the main road, dissecting crawling line of"Ah pure shot mi hear a squeeze off over the church way, over 20 shot and then mi see the car shot out pon the main road, and speed off. Members of the entertainment industry reacted in shock and dismay at the news of tonight's shooting, especially since it occurred on the heels of Sunday night's shooting of singer O'Neil Edwards of the Voicemail group.
"A second shooting in three days? Are they targetting entertainers? Why dem a turn pon the industry now?" one music insider asked.
An obviously shaken DJ Stacious stood in front of the ward, her hands crisscrossed over her ample chest, muttering: "mi caan manage this, mi caan manage".
Mayor of Spanish Town, Dr. Andrew Wheatley, and Minister of Entertainment Olivia 'Babsy' Grange and her advisor Clifton 'Specialist' Dillon also turned up to offer support to the injured deejay, who grew up in the community of Braeton Phase Two in Portmore, St. Catherine. The shooting reportedly occurred close to Braeton Phase One which has had a history of friction with neighbouring communities in the area.
