CONSTABLE Lowell Forbes, a cop who was convicted in the Half -Way-Tree Resident Magistrates Court for breaching the Corruption Prevention Act, is to spend a year in prison.

Forbes was sentenced on Tuesday to 12 months for corruptly soliciting and 12 months for corruptly accepting money. The sentences are to run concurrently.

The court was told that on Sunday March 4, 2007, Forbes solicited and collected $10,000 from a motorist in order not to ticket the motorist for breaching the Road Traffic Act.

The matter was reported and investigated by members of the Anti Corruption Branch. A file submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions who ruled that the constable should be charged.
