A record producer who is accused of attempting to export marijuana was granted bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
The accused, Percival Bell, is charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja.
The allegations are that on the day in question, the accused was at the airport when he was searched. A 2kg package was found hidden in a secret compartment.
When the matter was mentioned, the accused man's lawyer told the court that he had borrowed the suitcase. To this, Resident magistrate Judith Pusey asked why a big record producer would want to borrow a suitcase.
Bell was granted $100,000 bail with a surety and was ordered to report to the Freeport police in Montego Bay, St.James, twice a week. He was also ordered to surrender his travel documents and a stop order was issued.
