PATRICK Roberts, the People's National Party (PNP) caretaker for West Central St Andrew, had his bail extended when he appeared in the Gun Court yesterday morning.
Roberts, who was last Wednesday arrested and charged with breaching the Firearms Act, was ordered to return to court on April 29.
The PNP caretaker turned himself over to the police last week after one of two firearms that were allegedly taken from a man -- whom the police claimed engaged them in a shootout on Waltham Park Road in January -- were traced to him.According to the lawmen, the weapon -- a Taurus revolver -- was registered to Roberts.
However, Roberts told investigators that he was not aware that the weapon was missing.
A file was prepared and handed over to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions who ruled that Roberts be charged.
The court has placed a gag order on the details of the case involving the PNP caretaker.
A gag order means attorneys and court officials cannot reveal the details of the case to the media.
