TWO police constables attached to the Manchester Police Division were arrested late last night by a team from the Trans National Crime and Narcotics Division (TCND) after the vehicle they were driving was stopped, searched and approximately 181 lbs of marijuana found and confiscated.
The TCND team was on routine surveillance in downtown Kingston (King Street and Harbour Street) when they decided to stop and search the occupants of a passing motorcar. After searching the two men in the vehicle the TCND team then searched the vehicle. It was at that time that they discovered the illegal substance in four knitted bags wrapped in brown masking tape.
Two persons driving a white Toyota which was apparently part of the convoy transporting the marijuana escaped.The two constables will be interviewed by TCND investigators today
