Denver, CO, United States (AHN) -- A customer at a Colorado casino won a $42 million jackpot, however managers at the casino offered her a free breakfast and $23 in lieu of the millions. The reasoning besides the alternate prize: they say the slot machine malfunctioned and that its top payout is only $250,000.
Louise Chavez feels that Fortune Valley Casino is cheating her out her winnings. Chavez, who is a home assistant and earns $12,000 a year, said state authorities are investigating the matter.
The Colorado Division of Gaming is conducting forensic testing on the machine in question to determine what award, if any, she is entitled to.
Authorities have told the woman the she probably won some kind of prize on the machine but she won't receive anything close to $42 million.
Chavez is currently waiting to hear whether the casino offers her a settlement.
