Deputy Superintendent of Police Deutress Foster-Gardener said the Old Harbour police in St Catherine are still searching for persons connected to an AK-47 rifle that was seized by the police last Friday.
"The police are still investigating the circumstances under which the gun got into the house as there must be someone responsible for this illegal act,'' DSP Foster-Gardner told The Star.
Police reports are that about 10 p.m. last Friday, a police team acting on information went to Darlington Drive in Old Harbour, St Catherine.
During the search of a house, the illegal gun loaded with one live round was found under a bed. No one was held in connection with the gun find.
Clive Blair, deputy superintendent of Police in charge of Operations for the St Catherine South Division of which Old Harbour is a part, said the seizure of the weapon brings to 14 the number of guns seized since the start of the year.
