A fight between two schoolgirls on the compound of a high school in St Catherine yesterday, resulted in one being hospitalised after she was stabbed several times.

Reports from the police are that about 4:30 p.m., both girls were at school when an argument developed. The girls reportedly started to fight and one of the girls was stabbed three times.

She was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where she was admitted in serious condition.

Her attacker was subsequently held by the police and charged with unlawful wounding.

Director of Communications in the Ministry of Education, Collin Blair, was distraught by the incident and said that the Ministry regrets when these acts of violence occur.
