The severed head of 36-year-old Codlin Rose of Tredegar Park, St Catherine, was found along the ThompsonPen main road on Saturday.
Police told THE STAR that about 6 a.m. residents woke up to the gruesome discovery. Rose was a security guard employed to watch a church in the community.
It's not the first time the St Catherine North police have to investigate a case of a head being severed.
Last December, the head of a security guard who hails from the Thompson Pen community was found along Port Henderson Road in Dela Vega City.
About a week later, the decomposing body was found buried near the bank of the Rio Cobre.
In February last year, the investigators found the head of a man in the Tredegar Park square and are still searching for his body.
