A man who is charged with assault with intent to rape asked that the court speed up his trial as it has being on the roster for too long.
Dwayne Brown, who is representing himself, made the request on Tuesday in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.
"Your Honour, I have being waiting for some time now and you promise to be here on a previous date, so there is a need to place some priority on the case," Brown told the court.
Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green told the accused that the parish is short of judges, however priority is being placed on his case and that is why he has been furnished with the statement he had requested.
He was told that when the case is called up on April 16, everything would be ready.
Brown appearance in court arose from an August 2009 incident when a young woman reported that he attempted to rape her after pretending to photograph her.
The court learnt that Brown had placed an add in the media that he had a model agency and when the female complainant turned up, he tried to trick her.
It is said that the complainant was taken to a river and told to posed for a new soap on the market. The accused then tried to rape her.
She escaped and reported the matter to the police. Following investigations, Brown was held and charged.
