Residents of Big Yard on Mannings Hill Road, St Andrew, have denied that ammunition was found there as reported in THE STAR last week.
The residents, claiming they are being targeted by cops, said police were not even in the community at the time they claimed to have found the ammo. "We are always up until the next morning playing bingo, cards and dominoes and there was no police activity within the area at that time of the incident" said a resident.
They said the police have threatened them about killing three residents. "We are in fear for our lives because the police said that they are coming to kill three persons from the community and we do not know who it will be. If they don't kill anybody they say that they are going to burn some houses down," said another resident.
They say that they want the negative stigma attached to Big Yard to be removed, and that deejay Vybz Kartel is not associated to the area in any negative way but assists them financially and with the hosting of events.
They said they are tired of enduring police abuse and have made a report to Jamaicans for Justice and the Police Public Complaints Authority (PPCA).
Both agencies confirmed they have received complaints.
A senior PPCA officer said the residents are denying the ammo but their complaints are being probed.
