There was an earthquake in the Cayman Islands a short while ago.
The quake was reportedly felt in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Cuba and Miami.
A Jamaican living inGrandCaymansaid it lasted a few seconds but nothing appeared to have been damaged. He said residents, however are quite shaken.
The earthquake measured 5.8 on the Richter Scale. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) the earthquake occured 65 km (40 miles) east south east of George Town, Cayman Islands, 315 km (195 miles) west north west of Montego Bay, Jamaica, 350 km (215 miles) south of Cienfuegos, Cuba and 750 km (465 miles) south of Miami, Florida.
Another resident in Cayman said she was spreading her bed when she heard and felt some heavy shaking. It was at that point that she realised it was an earthquake. She went outside and checked and has been calling around since, but said that she has been unable to get through to anyone.
Last Tuesday a 7.0 earthquake rocked Port-au-Prince, Haiti killing thousands and causing massive destruction.
Last Friday there was also an earthquake in Venezuela and yesterday there was earthquake in Guatemala and Argentina.
