A man who hit another man with a building block told the court he did it because the man was claiming to be the father of his daughter.
The accused appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer to a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.
The accused pleaded guilty and told the court that on the day in question, he went to visit his daughter and to give her a Christmas present. He said the complainant grabbed the gift from the child and threw it away and then told him that the child was his and he should leave.
The accused said he lost his temper and used the block to hit the complainant, who fell to the ground.
The accused also told the court that he was trying to get a paternity test done but said the complainant wanted him to pay for it. He, however, revealed that he had set a date with the Family Court for it to be done and for the matter to be resolved soon.
