TimesOnline: New mystery surrounded Tiger Woods today, after an ambulance was called to his Florida home during an early-hours emergency.

The 2.36am drama came as reports claimed that Woods, 33, and his wife, Elin Nordegren, 29, have split, with her taking up residence in a separate property the couple owns on the exclusive Windermere estate in Orlando.

It was the second emergency call to the home in 12 days, coming after Woods crashed his Cadillac Escalade outside following a row with his wife over his multiple extra-marital affairs. Newly-released legal documents now show that Woods had been drinking before the crash and may have been driving impaired, but attempts by state troopers to obtain medical evidence were denied by state attorneys.

In the latest incident, paramedics attended Woods mansion following a 911 call, but there were conflicting reports over the outcome and the identity of the patient, with speculation centring on Woodss mother-in-law, Swedish politician Barbro Holmberg.

Local television filmed a blonde, seemingly middle-aged woman being carried from the ambulance into the nearby Health Central Hospital on a stretcher, citing an Orange County Fire Rescue log showing that the person initially refused to be transported but was later placed on advanced life support.

Other eyewitness reports claimed that a blonde woman was seen driving behind the ambulance in a Cadillac Escalade similar to one owned by Woodss wife.

Further reports this morning claimed that the patient had since been released from hospital while, adding to the confusion, a spokesman for Orange County Fire Rescue stated: It was a medical call and the patient refused to be taken to hospital.

Mrs Holmberg flew from Sweden to support her daughter last Friday, a week after revelations over Woodss multiple extra-marital affairs began to surface. The sex scandal emerged after the golf champion crashed his Cadillac Escalade into a hedgerow, a fire hydrant and then a tree, while driving away from his house following a row with his wife, who had allegedly chased him with a golf club.

According to records now released by the Orange-Osceola state attorneys office, a witness at the scene of the crash understood to be Ms Nordegren told state troopers on the scene that Woods consumed alcohol earlier in the day. She also informed them that Woods had been prescribed the sleeping drug Ambien and the painkiller Vicodin, though it was not stated whether he had taken either prior to the accident.

Impairment of the driver is also suspected due to the careless driving that resulted in the traffic crash, states a report written by the attending state trooper, Joshua Evans.

Yet when Florida Highway Patrol attempted to obtain a warrant for his hospital records, after he was whisked away in an ambulance semi-conscious, Assistant State Attorney Steve Foster, head of the State Attorney's Office's intake division, denied the request because of "insufficient information, legal documents showed today.
