A St Mary church is now in turmoil after rumours began circulating that the pastor along with two females from the congregation were seen early one morning leaving a hotel known to be a hot spot for prostitutes.
Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that the rumour is causing some amount of unrest in the church as a number of members are now expressing their lack of faith in their religious leader.
It is claimed that some two weeks ago, church members travelling in the same vehicle, were driving past the hotel about 2 a.m. when the pastor and the two females were seen leaving the compound.
One church member, Brother Joe*, who was in the vehicle contacted THE WEEKEND STAR and said he had no choice but to disclose what he saw to other church members.
"I couldn't believe ... I have nothing but respect for the pastor but something is wrong ... I know he wasn't spreading the gospel at that hotel at two in the morning ...We stopped and looked just to make sure is not doubles we were seeing," Brother Joe, who has been a member of the church for some 12 years now, said before adding, "And is a place that is famous for women who sell, if you know what I mean."
Sister Jackie*, another member of the church for at least eight years, said this is not the first time that that the pastor has been allegedly involved in eyebrow-raising incidents.
"About a year ago it was stink, stink in the church that he was having an affair with a young girl who was also part of the church ... . Nobody proved it but the girl eventually stopped coming so that alone made us wonder," she explained.
The pastor is reportedly married but not to any of the church members with whom he was seen.
When the 44-year-old pastor was contacted by THE STAR, he admitted to hearing of the 'rumour' but declined to speak much about it.
"Yes I hear that people are saying this and that but people can say what they want to say ... I have the Lord's business to attend to, so I don't have any time to waste with foolishness," he said before requesting that his name not be published.
When asked if he had ever been to the hotel for any reason at all, the pastor then ended the phone call by hanging up.
THE WEEKEND STAR also heard that one of the church sisters who was rumoured to have been seen on the night in question has not been to church since.
Efforts to contact either of them were unsuccessful as contact numbers provided rang without answer on several occasions.
Meanwhile, the concerned church members say they will be confronting their leader but have not yet made a decision as to when it will happen.
