The island of Bahamas is buzzing with excitement and bracing for the arrival of Vybz Kartel and the Portmore Empire in The Bahamas in early November for the Millennium Countdown X show.
"We're generating a lot of excitement in Bahamas with the Portmore Empire. Everybody's looking forward to the show, to see Vybz Kartel and Beenie Man perform. The ads are running, we just produced a television ad with Kartel and the Empire that is running on the television. There are people who will be flying in from the US to see the show, we're getting advance bookings from Florida to New York. It look like it's going to be a great show," Josef Bogdanovich, head of Down Sound Records, told one876entertainment.com
Beenieman, Queen Ifrika, I-Octane, Harry Toddler, Tempricher, G Warren, El Padrino, Rebirth, Bahama Boys, Billy Steels, Sammy Star, Boboken & Smurf will also appear on the show. The Millennium Countdown began in 1999 in Nassau, Bahamas. It was the beginning of a Caribbean regional concert production initiated by DownSound Records producing concerts in Grenada, St Vincent, Grand Cayman and Bahamas. In the Bahamas DownSound partnered with Sigma Management, a Nassau based international accounting firm to produce concerts in Nassau, Freeport and Abaco.
Over the years, The Millennium Countdown has consistently brought top Jamaican artists to the Bahamas many for the first time. Artists include Buju Banton, Capleton, Luciano, Yellow Man, Anthony B, Jah Cure, Lady Saw, Tanya Stephens, Morgan Heritage plus more.
Additionally, the Millennium Countdown has sponsored various community projects such as donating computers to various high schools over the years, conduct school seminars with performing artists speaking to students. Community service is a fundamental principal that the Millennium Countdown fully endorses.
Production standards and service over the years have been of the highest standard with a variety of innovative concepts. All inclusive service is one such example including catered 6 course food service and free bar. The Sky Box concept is another example and has been a real hit with high rolling Bahamians over the past three years.
This year the production will introduce a new concept to patrons who attend the Platinum section of the concert which will attract excitement and set new standards to the concert experience for the millennium.
