Selector Kurt Riley was arrested and charged by the police early yesterday morning, after he allegedly disobeyed orders to turn off the music at 'Stir it up' party, which was being held at Mas Camp in St Andrew.

Riley was charged with breaches of the Noise Abatement Act and use of indecent language.

He is to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on October 15.

According to reports, the police received calls from persons complaining that they were being disturbed. A police team went to the venue sometime around 2 a.m. but allowed the party to continue for another hour.

Upon the return of the police, Riley, who was at the turntables, was ordered to turn off the music.

He is alleged to have disobeyed the orders and uttered expletives, as he played deejay Wasps' 'Officer', a song which hits out at the turning off of parties and it's perceived effects on society.

"Nuh lock off di soun' officer, an gwaan like yu tek me fi clown officer..." the song says. Riley was subsequently arrested and charged.

When THE STAR spoke with Riley last evening, he denied the allegations. "I'm not even that type of person, I wasn't even thinking about playing that song..I've been working with the police for years and I would never do that," he said.
