Entertainers Beenie Man, Flippa Mafia, Mr Lex, Elephant Man and Spice kicked the Xtreme Wet N Wild party at the Kool Runnings Water Park into high gear last Saturday when they romped in the park's 'lazy river' with each other and patrons.

Its third year in Negril, Xtreme Wet N Wild has built a reputation as being one of the best parties over the Independence weekend. This year, the party stepped its reputation up a notch higher with a unanimous vote from patrons.

Selectors ZJ Liquid, Tony Matterhorn and the Coppershot crew kept the vibes strong throughout the day with great selections. There were fire breathers, a seven-foot-long snake named Gloria, drinks and food flowed non-stop throughout the event and the venue was packed in every crevice.

Artistes such as QQ, Jah Cure, Bounty Killer, D 'Angel, Mavado and socialite Lena British were also on board for the festivities, but it was Beenie Man and Flippa Mafia that got the party started. Flippa Mafia was in his usual form as he was teased by DJs Liquid and Cutty that his money was running out, which he proved wrong by throwing money into the air as persons scrambled to get their hands on the 'benjamins', almost causing a fight.

Biggest 'forward'

They soon teased Beenie Man about his 'flossing' ways playing his hit Eva Clean, but it was Matterhorn who got the biggest 'forward' from the crowd. Boasting that he has more money than the two and that he doesn't need to flaunt it by throwing it away, he proceeded to throw his Matterhorn cigarettes into the crowd. Soon Matterhorn told the crowd, "whatever unnu have inna yuh hand, throw it!", as patrons threw cups, rags, anything they could get their hands on.

Really wild

To one side of the party, Flippa, Elephant Man, Beenie Man and Mr Lex were busy getting cranberry bottles and juice bottles cut in half so that they could throw water at one another and passers-by. A water war soon ensued as Beenie chased Flippa down the water slide and persons tried to dose the 'doctor.' Soon DJ Spice also joined in, as persons got thrown into the pool and others willingly jumped in.

By 8 p.m., persons were tired, staggering out of the venue and some still dancing as the selectors told persons to get out of the water.

Without a doubt, Xtreme Wild N Wild was one of the best parties of Negril
