Pun I can't agree with this. The brain needs a resting period and sorry but two weeks is not enough. The summer period is meant for the kids to have some sort of leisure time away from the constant intake of material for the brain to process. THE BRAIN NEEDS A REST KIDS WOULD GO CRAZY!

Parents can find different programs to risk the sudden increase in electricity, water, phone etc. There are so many summer camps filled with daily activities that would eliminate the increase in bills.

When I was a student I always looked forward to my long summer vacation and when I started working I longed for such freedom again. Sorry pun but I'm about to become a student again and I can't wait to experience the liberation that summer brings once again.

boy 2 weeks of recess for schoolers i would not agree with that lots of children would suffer from burn out and how can you learn if your tired mi like the reasoning still with the regards to reduction of costs to parents with utilities and stuff and other areas where ppl gain income from schoolers but still 2 weeks is too short in my opinion maybe if you said 1 month then that coulda work wid...

I get your point pun but regardless they still need longer leisure time I can recall as a child going to school yes I'll have a day off but the teacher made sure she pack you down with homework to complete. Easter vacation when you think you're going to be free the give you a big project to complete. The little one day off for sports and etc still can't add up to the resting period that the brain will need.

School closing for two weeks because of mother nature cannot be stopped. It's based on the extensive damage that has occurred to the school and  the homes of pupils and members of the entire student body. Think about road blocks due to fallen debris, broken power lines, streets flooded with water etc. They have to make sure that everything is safe before you let kids go back to school.

everybody a talk bout brain waa rest and brain freeze, seriously, i know u know better, adults work all the time, them brainz nuh freeze up, them function same way and dont come mention stress or no foolishness. some of the most accomplished works where science and technology is concerned came from ppl who worked long hours, day and night. if you are gonna oppose this point, come with better reasons than ones that sound like they coming from some lazy ppl. be honest, a suh it seem.

Yes you have a point but I'm not really into science so I'll like to ask you this. Does a child and an adult have the same brain capacity? Can a child retain the same amount of information as an adult and be able to remember as much as an adult? Yes adults work but how often do you find an adult doing a job that almost every day you learn something new? Most jobs that average people do become routine so it's embedded into the brain; you perform the same functions everyday. However, with school you do not cover the same material everyday and as the years past your lessons evolve into so much more. The brain needs time to process the information too much overloading will cause problems.

Well my input is that we too many unemployed persons nowadays plus we depend heavily on the first world countries... Call it say 3/4 of our economy depends on tourism....We even owe these countries over 300 billion now! So how we are going to surpass that you may ask me.....Its not a matter of giving the youngsters a shorter break, its about building a foundation so that we can produce.....When you have so many unemployed, its not our children we are responsible for, we are responsible for those also who just sit on the corner not doing anything, because they use the country's resoures also and they are not producing....They say crises springs out opportunity, so just hope we just capitalise on sells our country and stand on our own.......
