A track and field coach from a high school in Clarendon is now before the court after he was accused of forcibly having anal sex with a 13-year-old athlete during the staging of the Boys and Girls' Champs.
The accused man will appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today to answer the charges of buggery and cruelty to a child. He had previously appeared in court on Tuesday and was denied bail.
forced himself on to the teen
The allegations are that the accused took a team of athletes to the Corporate Area in April to compete in the Issa/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletic Championships. The team and coach stayed at a hotel and it is alleged that about 11:30 one night, the accused entered a room in which two girls were staying. One was asleep but the 13-year-old complainant was awake. It is further alleged that the coach forced himself on to the teen and had anal sex with her.
The matter was reported to the May Pen police about a month after the incident and the accused was taken into custody.
When the matter was mentioned in court on Tuesday, Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told the accused man's attorney that she would not consider bail until she got something in writing from the school to state that the accused would not be allowed near the children.
