The St James police are trying to identify and locate a group of men travelling in a white Toyota Corolla who shot two men dead in the quiet community of Dumfries, Saturday night.
Dead are Sanjay Beckford, 18, who lived in Dumfries and worked at a carwash centre in the same community; and Asanie James, also 18, of neighbouring Canaan district. They were shot dead along the Dumfries roadway about 10 p.m.
Police say the men may have been part of a group of persons who had gathered along the roadway discussing the disappearance of a woman from the area a week earlier.
It is understood that a white Corolla drove up with men aboard. They opened fire, hitting Beckford and James. According to the police, the men were shot in their heads and upper bodies, .
Investigators confirmed that a gang feud has been brewing in Canaan where James lived. They are also investigating reports that the attack might be in reprisal of an incident in which two men were chopped up at a dance in February. A car was also damaged in that incident. The matter is before the court.
