Suspect assists in gun find

A 23-year-old man, who is the prime suspect in the murder of a man at Stonehenge, St James, on May 17, led investigators to the dead man's firearm at Mahogany district, Ginger Hill, St Elizabeth, this morning.

The name of the man has been withheld pending further investigations.

According to information received by the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), about 9:30 a.m., a team of police carried out an operation in Lacovia, St Elizabeth. During the exercise, the man was seen on the premises and was accosted. He took the lawmen to a section of the premises where the firearm, a .38 revolver with six cartridges, was found. He was subsequently taken into custody.

The CCN had earlier reported that about 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, higgler, Clifton Brown, 40, was driving a panel van along the Summerhill main road, heading towards Montego Bay, when he stopped along the roadway. He exited the vehicle and was attacked by gunmen who shot him several times. He died on the spot. Investigators, who theorised that Brown had been robbed, say his licensed firearm was also missing.
