THIEF BITES VICTIM'S WILLY - Robbery attempt turns into freaky fight

A thirty-year-old carpenter said he recently received the shock of his life when a robbery attempt on Orange Street quickly turned into a freaky fight episode.

Romeolee Jones of a Corporate Area address said the incident took place about 7:30 a.m. on May 18, as he was assisting a co-worker in removing some furniture from the back of a van.

"So after we done, the rasta man and two others come up to mi and a say mi mus gi dem money, so mi tell dem mi nuh ave none, all mi did ave was a whistle in mi pocket," Jones said. "So him (rasta man) start fight mi and tek weh mi whistle and a stab mi wid it, so mi start run but mi drop."

Mi waan justice

Jones recalled that after he fell the robber bit him on his hand, palm, groin area and penis.

"Mi waan justice cuz dat nuh right. Yuh and a man a fight, wha him a bite yuh deh so fa?" Jones questioned as he spoke with THE STAR yesterday. He said that he had immediately reported the matter to the City Centre police.

A sergeant at that police station confirmed one aspect of Jones' story when the newspaper contacted the location.

bruises

"He came here on the day of the incident holding up the front of his pants and saying that he was bitten on his penis, but we never checked it," the sergeant said. "We rushed him off to the hospital because there were bruises and abrasions on him and he was bleeding from one of his hands." The policeman said that they advised Jones to come back after receiving treatment so an official statement could be recorded and an investigation launched. Jones did not return, however.

When contacted, a senior official at the Kingston Public Hospital's (KPH) patients affair department said he could not divulge information about a patient unless the said patient authorised him, in writing, to do so. He said, however, that he could confirm that the particular individual was treated at the hospital for injuries, which he would not specify.
