The Frome Police in Westmoreland recorded yet another shooting death in less than a week, when Nathaniel Dixon Jr, a 29-year-old businessman of Burnt Savannah in the parish, was shot dead yesterday.
Reports are that Dixon returned home from a party about 2:30 Wednesday morning with a male relative. He went inside the house and was in the company of his girlfriend and a relative watching television when he decided to go outside to use the bathroom.
It is alleged that immediately after he left the house there were sounds as if there was a struggle and then shots were heard. He did not return to the house.
At daybreak, a search was launched and Dixon was found dead in a yard next door with a single bullet wound to his neck. A motive has not yet been established but his father, a police officer, was saddened by the incident.
Dixon's death came hot on the heels of another homicide in the same police division on Sunday. The police report that on the day in question, the dead body of Dave Campbell was found on his bed at Georges Plain.
A cousin got suspicious when phone calls to Campbell went unanswered. He went to the house to investigate and made the gruesome discovery. Campbell was shot and killed on his bed, through his bedroom window.
The cousin knew something was wrong when he noticed the lights at the house still on and the goats which would be taken to the field still in the yard.
Campbell was 40 and served as a security guard and an electrician. He lived alone
