A rift among fifth-form boys from a high school in Clarendon, which reportedly started over a girl has resulted in an all-out war that has left at least four students injured in the last week and a half.

According to the Area Three police, a group of students have been at each others' throats since two boys got into a dispute about a girl with whom they are said to have a relationship.

"This all started week before last when two boys accused each other of trying to steal a girl ... . Based on what we have found out, the girl is in a relationship with both guys... . It's a really sad case; after all, that shouldn't be what they are concentrating on," Detective Inspector Michael Baugh of the Area Three police told THE STAR.

Feuding friends

Interestingly, the two boys did not clash until last week. It was their friends who took matters into their own hands.

The police say on at least three occasions after the two boys confronted each other, several boys clashed resulting in three students left nursing injuries inflicted by knives and machetes.

In the latest clashes, last Wednesday, the two boys who initially confronted each other continued the feud.

The police say one of the boys was at school when he was attacked and stabbed in the side. He was rushed to hospital while the other student was detained.

Police have been forced to increase their presence at the institution and are continuing their investigations as formal charges could be laid against the boys alleged to be involved in the dispute.

"We have stepped up our presence and are working towards bringing normality to the school. We are also doing our investigations as students were injured, so charges could be laid against some of them," Detective Inspector Baugh said.
