A pastor who was recently accused of defrauding a woman faced an angry mob on his way to and from the Mandeville Resident Magistrate's Court, Manchester, yesterday.
The pastor was freed after repaying some of the money to the complainant. The mob awaited the accused at the Mandeville Police Station where shouts and screams could be heard from people who claimed that they wanted back their money. Others watched and yet others made death threats.
Alexandra Dias Santo Silver, the accused man, is a Brazilian national and pastor of the Mandeville Universal Church of the Kingdom of God on 'Hotel Street'.
Exchange for a miracle
It is alleged that Silver took money from the complainant in exchange for a miracle. However, that the miracle is still outstanding.
It is reported that the complainant went to Silver for his help because she was facing some challenges. It is alleged that $998,000 was withdrawn from her account and paid over for her earthly blessings.
Realising that the miracle she was awaiting was not going to materialise, she demanded that her money be returned. When this was not done, the matter was reported to the police.
Since this incident, numerous persons have accused Silver of taking their money. He is charged with obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.
