The weight has been lifted from the shoulders of deejay Danny English after his carnal abuse case was dismissed in the Home Circuit Court on Kings Street yesterday.

Born Donald Cox, English was arrested on July 6, 2007 and charged with four counts of carnal abuse and one count of indecent assault. He was accused of molesting a female minor in December 2004. According to a previous report in THE STAR, Cox once lived with the complainant's family and still maintained a close relationship with the complainant and her siblings after he moved. The complainant reportedly visited his house frequently, and it was during one of these visits the alleged molestation occurred.

Not guilty

In court yesterday the complainant, now 17, went into the witness box and said she did not wish to testify. Justice Raymouth King directed the jury to return a formal verdict of not guilty.

A joyous Danny English, 38, said he feels like a huge weight has been lifted from his shoulders. "is like mi get a cross like Jesus Christ to carry through some series and mini series. Today I have overcome and everything is good right now. Big up my management team, Tren-Settas, who believed in my innocence from day one. Every day I went to court someone from there has been there for me. I just feel glorious. Big-up the Almighty and to Trend-Settas and my lawyer Peter Champagnie."

Difficult

Danny English makes a point to THE STAR during an interview at The Gleaner Co yesterday.

For English, the past 20 months has been difficult, especially on his career as he said he was unable to give it his all and he wasn't content. English, however, plans to take his career to new heights and to chronicle his struggle in a new song called Rumours, which is produced by Tren-Settas Production.

While Danny English acknowledges that some fans may never look at him the same, he still believes his career will be able to move ahead as seen by the good responses he received at Sting in December and at the Reggae Month concert held on Knutsford Boulevard last month.

"Is an elevation right now. Yeah, people a go think what dem think, I can't push it down no one's throat. Mi name already tarnish. Who want to believe wha dem believe go ahead, the court said I'm not guilty," he said.

English has a slew of new singles coming out, including Invasion and the current song receiving rotation on the airwaves Party Time Again, featuring Egg Nogg. The song is a sequel to his popular Meet Me At The Party.
