Tanya Duhaney believes she captured the image of a 'duppy' while testing out her new camera phone a few weeks ago.

Duhaney told THE STAR that after receiving a new phone, she decided to test out its features and try the camera. She said she was in the living room of her home in Garden Hill, Point Hill, St Catherine, and took a photograph of a family member eating dinner. While reviewing the picture the following day, however, she saw something shocking.

The picture, which THE STAR was able to view, is somewhat blurry, but the image of a seemingly elderly man to the left is quite distinct. When she first saw the image, Duhaney said she was not sure what to think but after showing it to family members, they came to accept the unbelievable - the image was that of her father-in-law, George Duhaney, who died last June.

Puzzled

She said, "When I took it, I was puzzled. Mi a seh a who dis? After mi nuh tek nobody stay so? I call him grandson and show him an ask him what im think and im seh u nuh see seh a Dadda. But a same way im look fi true, same way. Mi look pan di elbow and start notice him hair, an a same way im did walk an ben'. Mi show some other family members an as dem look pan it, dem nuh affi ask no question. Everybody believe seh a him same one. Mi jus a really wonder if sumting can go so."

When THE STAR visited a local school in the community where the principal, students and staff members were familiar with the deceased, all agreed that the image was quite eerie and that it did in fact look like him.

One man, who said he once worked with the deceased, told THE STAR upon seeing the image, "A di same man ennuh, a di same man. So how im get pan yu phone?" Others admitted that when they heard about the incident they were sceptical. After seeing the photo, however, their views changed.

Duhaney said no one living at the home has ever felt the presence of anything odd and no one has ever reported any strange sightings. While admitting that is was strange, she said she was not afraid and believed the deceased was there to watch over their family, especially a grandson that lived with him before he died.

One of the deceased man's grandsons was also convinced when he saw the picture. He told THE STAR, "It look like him. Di hand dem set jus like how him woulda set him hand normally."

Duhaney told THE STAR that she has taken many pictures since then and nothing strange has come up. She plans to keep the image on her phone and will use it as a reminder that someone is looking over their family.
