Fired worker arrested at cement company

A man, who was fired from his job at the Caribbean Cement Company and banned from going there, was charged with office-breaking a few months after he was seen there and removed by security guards.

Clive Locke appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday to answer the charge.

Allegations read in court are that on October 20 last year, about 1 a.m., a security guard found Locke and two men in an office at the cement company. He was taken into custody and released. Locke, who was an employee at the company, was fired February last year and banned from being on the premises since then.

However, he was seen again on February 5 and taken into police custody and charged with office- breaking and larceny.

Locke's attorney told the court that his client went to the grounds to see a contractor about some work and that was when he was seen and slapped with a charge based on what took place in October. The attorney also said the police were trying to pin an old charge on his client. Locke was remanded until February 23, when the matter should be mentioned again.
