Police personnel from Operation Kingfish and the Mobile Reserve are now searching for several men who they say shot at them during an operation at sea in St. Thomas last night.

One man, believed to be a Haitian was reportedly killed during the alleged shootout.

The police say they were at sea near Morant Point when they intercepted two boats.

They say the occupants on the boats shot at them.

They reportedly returned fire and one man was hit.

He was later taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police say the other occupants on the boats escaped.
