Three casinos belonging to Trump Entertainment: the Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino and Trump Marina Hotel Casino, once run by Donald Trump, have filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, for the 3rd time on Tuesday. Trump Entertainment Resorts made the filing in US Bankruptcy Court in Camden, New Jersey four days after real estate mogul, Donald Trump resigned as chairman of its board.
Trump states that even though it has his name he has nothing to do with the company, and may even seek legal action to force the company to stop using his name. He is, however, saddened over the end of a venture that was so publicly associated with his name and image. All three of the casinos will continue to operate during the bankruptcy proceedings, and the sale of the Trump Marina Hotel to Richard Fields, Trumps protege, will continue as scheduled.
Trumps daughter, Ivanka, whose image has been used to market the casinos also resigned from the board.
