Just for a few days after a memorable Sting clash, industry insiders are already planning another clash between the two artists. The Chief Executive Officer Isaiah Laing of Supreme Promotions Says "The argument is unsettled, we could arrange a rematch as soon as February if both parties agree to it.
However, other promoters are reportedly interested in organizing and bankrolling a clash between the two. They believe the sting promoters botched there chance and relish the opportunity to arrange another one, this time with rigidly enforced guidelines and rules of engagement.
"What Happened at Sting was not how it was to be, the rules were violated. Mavado's entourage was allowed onstage, and it was conducted on a band with a clear bias. You need a neutral band, and clear rules of engagement. No artiste is allowed to exit the stage until the winner is decided. I am shocked that Liang did such a poor job," one infamous dancehall promoter said.
"Rumours in the streets are circulating that Vybz Kartel could appear on a stage show with Mavado and simply step upon him, setting the sequel in motion. The first opportunity like that for such a plot twist could be at Reggae Campfire show in St. Catherine.
The Organizer clearly stated that "Kartel is not book for the show; therefore there will be no clash with Mavado". Many people are saying the clash was a draw, and that Kartel had definite edge until he deejayed the 'Weh Dat Fah' tune invoked the ire of the audience.
However, rabid fans on both sides continue to support the individual champions. Mavado's fans believe that he won because he was able to mount an effective comeback, while Kartel's fans contended that Mavado exited the stage and sabotaged the clash by pulling his bandsmen with the exception of the keyboardist.
Yohann Dawes, one of the principals behind the video cable station, HYPE TV believed that neither artiste won, but the sting concert was a VICTORY for the dancehall genre.
"I think that dancehall won, a lot of naysayers from Corporate Jamaica expected a night of mayhem and it did not happen. For the two top DJs to go at it onstage with no *lo**shed is great. It was not the best, I Believe that Stitchie and San was the best, but represented the official passing of the baton to Mavado and Kartel. They are the new face of dancehall." Dawes said.
