A JEALOUS husband murdered his wife after she announced she was single on Facebook.

Wayne Forrester, 34, was jailed for life yesterday after stabbing mum- of-two Emma at home.

He told cops he thought she was having an affair and he felt humiliated by her changing her marital status on the social networking site.


Emma, 34, was knifed in the neck, head, stomach, arms and hands as a six-year-old girl cowered upstairs.


The girl who cannot be named said he dragged his wife out of a bedroom.

Cops found two broken banisters and long clumps of hair outside the bedroom.

A kitchen knife and meat cleaver were near her body.


Emma had thrown Forrester out after the breakdown of their rocky 15-year marriage.

He repeatedly phoned threatening to kill her and her dad Robert Rothery sometimes stayed to make her feel safe.


On the night of her death in February, Emma told her sister on the phone she would bolt the door.

But at 6.30am a neighbour heard a crash as Forrester forced his way in.


Prosecutor Alex Lewis said: The man heard a woman crying out, then noises stopped.

Cops arrived to find Forrester leaving the house carrying a fruit juice carton.


He held out *lo**ied hands to be cuffed and said: My wifes in there. Ive killed her.


Officers then heard the little girl shouting: Help me. They wrapped her in a duvet to remove her from the house.


Miss Lewis told the Old Bailey in London that payroll administrator Emma often had two jobs to keep afloat while he struggled to keep one.

Her parents often bailed them out, the court heard.


Forrester pleaded guilty to murder and was told he must spend 14 years behind bars.


He told police he started taking cocaine after leaving the house in New Addington, Surrey, to stay with his sister in Paddington, West London.




In a statement, he said: She posted messages telling everyone she had left me and was looking to meet men. I felt devastated and humiliated by what she had done to me.


I felt I was watching somebody else attacking Emma. It was as though I had no control of what I was doing.


Emmas sister Liza said Robert and mum Frances were devastated.

In a statement to the court she said: For my father this is coupled with guilt that he was unable to protect her.


I wasnt there to help her and I share my parents feelings of guilt for this.
