ST. AUGUSTINE, FL -- A 48 year old woman from Flagler County was found in the trunk of a Cadillac around 6:00 Tuesday morning in St. Augustine.

Investigators say she was severely beaten. She said she was also sexually assaulted. Police say the woman was lost and asking for directions in West Augustine.

Investigators say she told them a man beat her, put her in the trunk of her car, drove her around, beat her some more, and kept her locked in the trunk.

Kevin Kelshaw with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said some passers-by heard the woman yelling and making noise from inside the trunk of a parked cadillac.

They opened the car and pried open the trunk and called 911. The victim told invevstigators she thinks she was in the trunk for about 5 hours.

She is now at Flagler hospital in St. Augustine.
