Last week OutAroad.com ran a story with the headline Broadcasting Commission Bans Konshens From Becoming A Winner. But according to Mr. Cordel Green Executive Director of Broadcasting Commission - The Commission did not issue any such statement that Konshens 'Winner' should be removed from all disc jocks playlist.
The news of Konshens song being banned was also aired on several local radio stations.
Below is a statement from the Broadcasting Commission
The Broadcasting Commission has made no ruling on any song by the artiste Konshens. It is therefore entirely inaccurate to report that the Commission has banned his song. There is nothing on the Commission's website or in any press release or correspondence with any broadcaster about the artiste and his song.
Also, the Commission is not a censorship board so it does not "ban" songs. There are rules governing broadcasters, including the Children's Code for Programming". These rules require broadcasters to evaluate and rate songs internally to determine whether they are fit for transmission or require special treatment, such as a restriction on the time of day it is aired. These are matters for the radio stations to decide. It is only when they fail to take appropriate measures that the Commission intervenes..
